Oura Introduces Ceramic Ring 4, Charging Case, and Health Panels

On Wednesday, Oura unveiled the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic, marking the company’s first collection of smart rings without metallic finishes. Alongside this, Oura announced its inaugural charging case, a new Health Panels feature for direct blood work scheduling within the Oura app, and support for multiple rings.

Oura Ring 4 Ceramic: Design and Durability

The new Oura Ring 4 Ceramic is crafted from zirconia ceramic. This material selection prioritizes both resilience and a comfortable, lightweight feel. Oura characterizes the new collection as a harmonious blend of aesthetic appeal and user comfort.

The coloration of these rings originates from naturally occurring minerals within the ceramic itself. This ensures lasting vibrancy, resisting the fading often seen with painted or coated finishes.

A Polishing Pad is included to address potential scuffs from contact with softer metals, such as those found in cookware or exercise equipment. To minimize scuffing, Oura recommends wearing the ring on the non-dominant hand, reducing the likelihood of impact.

Color Options and Pricing

The ring is available in four distinct colors: Tide, Cloud, Petal, and Midnight. The collection is priced at $499, with membership options available at $5.99 monthly or $69.99 annually. Ring sizes range from 4 to 15.

According to Jason Russell, Oura’s VP of Consumer Software Product, the company aims to provide more compelling reasons to integrate an Oura ring into daily life. He described the zirconia ceramic material as traditionally used in high-end watchmaking and jewelry.

Russell emphasized that the ring is more than just a technological device; it’s a personal expression. The new colors are designed to be both vibrant and versatile, allowing users to reflect their individual style and communicate it to others.

New Charging Case for On-the-Go Power

The newly developed Oura Ring 4 Charging Case addresses user requests for a portable charging solution. It can store up to five full charges and is compatible with a USB-C cable.

Both the case and the Oura Ring achieve a full charge in approximately 90 minutes. The case also functions as a secure storage option when the ring is not being worn.

The charging case will be available for purchase later this year and is priced at $99.

Oura has integrated Health Panels into its app, allowing members to monitor 50 different biomarkers alongside their existing sleep, readiness, and activity data. This feature enables users to schedule blood tests at over 2,000 Quest Diagnostics locations across the U.S. for $99.

Upon completion of the blood test, results are directly delivered to the Oura app. Users receive alerts when their results are ready and are presented with an overview of their data. Oura Advisor continues to provide interpretation and insights.

The app will clearly indicate which biomarkers are within the normal range and which are outside of it. Users can access a complete dataset and receive guidance on actionable steps to improve specific metrics.

Users can pose questions directly within the app, such as “What does my A1C of 5.7% mean?” or “How can I improve my cholesterol profile?”

Uncovering Health Trends

The combination of blood biomarker data and Oura Ring data is intended to reveal patterns and connections between lifestyle, behaviors, and underlying health trends that might otherwise be missed.

He noted that standard doctor visits often focus narrowly on the specific issue prompting the test, potentially overlooking other valuable data.

This broader data can provide crucial insights into overall health and potential underlying conditions. While independent blood testing services exist, they can be significantly more expensive, prompting Oura to offer Health Panels at $99.

Multi-Ring Support

Finally, Oura announced the ability for members to pair and switch between different Oura Ring 4 colors within a single account. This allows users to customize their ring to match their daily activities or attire, whether for workouts or fashion choices.
