Artiphon Expands Orba's Capabilities with Orbacam Video App

Building upon the success of its intuitive music sequencer designed for aspiring musicians, Artiphon has unveiled a new application – Orbacam – that introduces video creation functionality to the Orba’s already extensive feature set.

The Orbacam app caters to those with a creative inclination towards visual artistry, presenting a streamlined process for adding video filters and effects to personal projects. The demonstration video showcases the app’s ease of use.

Introducing "Musical Selfies"

Artiphon envisions Orbacam as a tool for crafting “Musical Selfies” – short, engaging videos that are automatically synchronized with the music being played on the Orba.

These videos are designed to be vibrant, easily shared, and ideally suited for platforms like Instagram Stories, TikTok, and Snapchat, enhancing the Orba’s appeal as a social media companion.

orbacam adds music video-making tools to its palm-size musical sequencerMike Butera, CEO and founder of Artiphon, states, “We believe music is inherently a multisensory experience, and Orbacam is designed to be an auditory, visual, and tactile experience accessible to everyone.”

He further explains that while music synchronization with social content is common, Orbacam empowers users to create entirely original musical videos.

Simplified Video Creation

The company has prioritized ease of use with Orbacam, allowing users to integrate visual effects into their video exports without the complexities of music mixing, audio routing, or post-production editing.

The app also supports the use of either the phone’s built-in microphone or an external microphone for vocal or beatboxing additions to the music.

Furthermore, users can import existing videos and photos directly from their phone’s gallery.

Orba: Democratizing Music Creation

The Orba simplifies the process of music creation, removing many of the traditional barriers for aspiring musicians.

Functioning as a synthesizer, looper, and MIDI controller, this palm-sized device has already proven to be an intuitive tool for musical expression.

Notably, the Orba isn’t Artiphon’s first innovative music-making product; the company previously raised $1.3 million in pre-sales for the INSTRUMENT 1 in 2015.

Continued Innovation

Artiphon has consistently garnered attention for its unique hardware products. The Orba initially gained traction through a successful $1.4 million Kickstarter campaign, bolstered by investment from companies like Warner Music.

Initial reviews of the Orba were positive, and the addition of the Orbacam app further expands its functionality, moving it beyond a novelty item towards a more versatile and valuable creative tool.

Availability

The free Orbacam app is available for download today from Artiphon for existing Orba owners.

For those new to the platform, the Orba is available for purchase at $100 from various retailers, as well as directly from Artiphon.
