OnePlus 8T Review: 120Hz Display & Fast Charging

OnePlus maintains its regular release schedule with the introduction of the 8T smartphone today. While not a substantial leap forward from the OnePlus 8 released in April, the newest model upholds the company’s reputation for delivering dependable Android phones at competitive prices. Although prices have increased somewhat recently, a price of $749 remains attractive considering the features included with the 8T.
Key improvements in this iteration include a 120Hz refresh rate on its 6.55-inch display and exceptionally quick charging capabilities through Warp Charge 65. This technology can replenish the 4,450 mAh battery to a full day’s power in just 15 minutes, with a complete recharge achievable in under 40 minutes.
The device boasts a comprehensive camera system, featuring a total of four lenses. This setup incorporates a 48-megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilization, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens, and, notably, both a macro lens and a monochrome lens. This launch also follows the announcement of the more budget-friendly Nord model, which is scheduled for release in the U.S. soon at a price below $500.
OnePlus has also experienced some organizational shifts recently. Co-founder Carl Pei has announced his departure from the company. He shared with TechCrunch, “Over the last few years, OnePlus has been my primary commitment, and other aspects of my life have been secondary.” He further stated, “I plan to take some time to rest and reconnect with family and friends,” and “then pursue my next endeavors.”
