Nvidia GeForce Now Subscription Price Increase - $10/Month

GeForce Now Subscription Plans Undergo Adjustments
Nvidia’s cloud gaming platform, GeForce Now, has recently announced modifications to its subscription structure. Effective immediately, paid membership tiers are priced at $9.99 monthly, or $99.99 annually; these are now designated as “Priority” memberships.
Founders Membership Details
Individuals currently holding a “Founders” membership will maintain their existing subscription rate provided continuous subscription is maintained. Should a subscription lapse, reinstatement at the previous $5 monthly cost will not be possible.
Last year, Nvidia openly communicated potential price increases for GeForce Now’s paid tiers when initially introducing them. The company has now determined that a monthly fee of $9.99 appropriately reflects the value of the paid subscription service.
Understanding GeForce Now
GeForce Now facilitates game initiation on a powerful gaming PC situated within a nearby data center. A video stream of the game executing in the data center is then delivered to your computer, mobile device, tablet, or television.
Utilizing a web application on iOS and iPadOS, and accessible on select Android TV devices, GeForce Now enables interaction with games through controller input relayed to the server in milliseconds, resulting in a remarkably responsive cloud gaming experience.
Distinction from Competitors
Unlike Google Stadia and Amazon Luna, Nvidia does not operate its own dedicated game store. GeForce Now users launch games they have already purchased through platforms like Steam, Epic Games, GOG.com, and Ubisoft’s launcher.
However, game publishers must explicitly authorize their titles for GeForce Now compatibility, meaning not every game within your existing library will be accessible. Currently, the platform supports approximately 800 games, a comprehensive list of which can be found on the official GeForce Now page.
Free Membership Option
GeForce Now offers a free tier, best considered as a trial period. Users may encounter queueing delays before accessing a free server, potentially waiting for 5 to 15 minutes.
Free members are subject to session limits of one hour, after which they are disconnected and must rejoin the queue for subsequent play.
Benefits of Paid Membership
Paid subscribers experience near-instant game launches and extended session durations of up to six hours. Furthermore, play can be resumed immediately following the six-hour limit. RTX-enabled graphics are also exclusive to paid members.
Technical Specifications and Expansion
Nvidia employs diverse server configurations, varying in CPU, graphics card, and RAM specifications. The allocated hardware is dynamically adjusted based on game demands; less intensive titles like Fortnite may receive moderate resources, while demanding games such as Cyberpunk 2077 are prioritized for higher-performance rigs.
Nvidia reports a user base approaching 10 million for its cloud gaming service, though the proportion of paying subscribers remains undisclosed.
The company has doubled its data center infrastructure in the past year, now operating over 20 facilities, either directly or through partnerships. Expansion plans include increased capacity at existing locations and the addition of new data centers in Phoenix, Montreal, and Australia.
Upcoming updates will focus on enhancing user experience, including streamlined game linking and more proactive game preloading.
