Watching Twitch on Your Nintendo Switch

Are you interested in viewing Twitch content on your Nintendo Switch? The Twitch application is now available as a complimentary download through the Nintendo eShop.

This allows users to enjoy both live broadcasts and previously recorded videos (VODs) while playing in handheld mode, or when the Switch console is connected to a television.

Functionality and Features

Given Twitch’s prominence as a platform for gaming livestreams, it’s logical that many Nintendo Switch players are also frequent Twitch viewers.

While the app doesn't support game streaming directly – as such setups require significant bandwidth and are technically demanding – it provides a convenient way to explore and locate streams.

Users can log in to their existing Twitch accounts to effortlessly follow their preferred content creators.

However, the chat functionality is currently unavailable within the app.

Utilizing the Joy-Con controllers for text input would prove cumbersome, and a QR code can be scanned to access the chat on a mobile device.

In situations where the Switch isn't docked, using the iOS application might be a more practical alternative.

Other Streaming Services on Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch currently offers access to several popular entertainment applications, including Hulu and YouTube.

However, many users have expressed a desire for a Netflix application, which was previously available on older Nintendo consoles like the Wii U and 3DS.

Support for Netflix on those systems was discontinued in January, and Nintendo has not yet announced any intentions to release a version for the Switch.

Furthermore, other widely used streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ are also not currently available on the Nintendo Switch.
