Nothing Phone (3) - Price, Specs & Release Date

Nothing Unveils the Phone (3) – A New Flagship Device
After a two-year development cycle, Nothing has officially launched its latest premium smartphone. The unveiling took place at an event held in London, introducing the Phone (3), priced starting at $799. This new device is positioned to compete directly with industry leaders such as Samsung and Apple.
The company aims to attract tech enthusiasts through a distinctive design and a unique set of features.
Building on a Transparent Legacy
Since the release of the Phone (1) in 2022, Nothing has distinguished itself with a transparent design aesthetic. This approach has been central to the brand’s identity.
The Phone (3) continues this design philosophy, but introduces a notably unconventional camera arrangement. Unlike the standard square or circular configurations seen on most smartphones, this new layout deliberately deviates from convention.
A Redefined Rear Interface: Glyph Matrix
Nothing has consistently incorporated LEDs on the rear of its devices, a feature known as Glyph. While initially considered a novelty, the Glyph system was utilized to display alerts and notifications via the LED lights.
Now, the company is evolving this concept with the introduction of Glyph Matrix – a small, circular mini LED screen located on the upper right portion of the device’s back.
This new interface is capable of displaying 16-bit styled patterns, offering a greater capacity for information presentation compared to the original Glyph arrangement.
To enhance functionality, Nothing is also releasing companion mini-apps, including interactive games like spin the bottle and rock, paper, scissors.
Integrating Artificial Intelligence
Reflecting current technological trends, the Phone (3) incorporates several AI-powered features. Two key additions at launch are Essential Space and Essential Search.
Essential Space, initially featured on the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, is an application designed for saving screenshots and taking notes. It has now been upgraded to include the ability to record meetings, generating both AI transcriptions and concise summaries.
Activation of this feature requires pressing the dedicated Essential key and positioning the phone screen-down during recording. However, currently, access to these transcriptions and summaries is limited to the device itself, lacking a web-based interface.
Enhanced Search Capabilities
Nothing is also introducing Essential Search, a system akin to the iPhone’s Spotlight search, but enhanced with AI capabilities.
This feature enables users to locate settings, files, and photos on their phone by simply typing in relevant keywords.
Furthermore, natural language queries can be entered to retrieve web results by utilizing a dedicated button adjacent to the search bar. This functionality mirrors the recent upgrades to the iPhone’s Siri interface, which now integrates with ChatGPT.
Smartphone Specifications and Release Details
The newly released smartphone boasts specifications that are on par with leading Android flagship devices from competing manufacturers.
Key features include a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution, fortified by Gorilla Glass 7i for enhanced durability. Powering the device is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, fabricated using a 4-nanometer process.
Camera System
The Phone (3) incorporates a triple-camera setup, each utilizing a 50-megapixel sensor but serving distinct photographic functions.
The primary camera features a large 1.3-inch sensor, representing a 20% increase in size compared to the Phone (2), and operates at a f/1.68 aperture. A periscope telephoto lens delivers 3x optical zoom and extends to 60x digital zoom, enhanced by AI Super Res Zoom technology. Additionally, an ultra-wide lens provides a 114-degree field of view.
An upgrade has also been implemented for the front-facing camera, increasing its resolution from 32 megapixels to 50 megapixels.
Power and Software
The device is equipped with a 5,150 mAh battery (increased to 5,500 mAh in the Indian market) and supports 65W fast wired charging, alongside 15W wireless charging capabilities.
The Phone (3) will initially launch with Nothing OS 3.5, built upon Android 15. A subsequent upgrade to Nothing OS 4.0, based on Android 16, is scheduled for release later in the year.
Software support is guaranteed for five years, with security updates provided for seven years.
Pricing and Availability
The 256GB storage configuration of the Phone (3) will be available for purchase at $799, while the 512GB model is priced at $899.
This pricing strategy positions the phone as a direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S25, which debuted earlier this year with a starting price of $799.
Pre-orders commence on July 4th, with the official launch and general availability beginning on July 15th.
Market Expansion
As previously reported by TechCrunch, Nothing is expanding the availability of the Phone (3) to the U.S. market through both its official website and Amazon.
This marks the second device, following the Phone (2), to receive widespread distribution. Prior budget-friendly models were initially offered exclusively through a limited beta program.
