Noopl appears to be a noteworthy new hardware venture showcased on the first day of CES. This company, based in Sacramento, has developed an accessory intended to minimize distracting background sounds for individuals in bustling settings.

This compact accessory features a Lightning connector (currently compatible solely with iOS devices), which plugs into the bottom of an iPhone. The small device incorporates three microphones, working in conjunction with an audio signal processor engineered to lessen unwanted ambient noise.

It is designed to employ head tracking technology to identify the user’s orientation, with the goal of delivering enhanced audio clarity in that direction. The application allows users to adjust the directional focus and volume levels.

The company was established by Steven Verdooner and Kevin Snow, leveraging technology originating from Sydney’s National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL).

According to a press release, the concept originated when Verdooner and his father struggled to converse in a crowded restaurant, even with the father utilizing advanced hearing aids in a restaurant-specific setting. Recognizing a significant potential to assist numerous individuals, Verdooner collaborated with NAL and a team of experienced scientists and engineers to develop Noopl. In 2020, Tim Trine, a seasoned professional in the hearing industry, joined as President and CEO to build a scalable technology platform, bring products to market, and facilitate company growth.
