nokia launches a laptop in india

Nokia, a well-known company with a 155-year history in producing diverse products—ranging from rubber goods and cables to mobile phones and telecommunications infrastructure—is now venturing into a different product area.
The company, based in Finland, revealed the Nokia PureBook X14 laptop on Monday, created in partnership with Flipkart, which is owned by Walmart, specifically for the Indian consumer market.
The Nokia PureBook X14 is available at a price of 59,990 Indian rupees (equivalent to $815) and features a 14-inch full-HD display. It is powered by a 10th generation Intel quad-core i5 processor, capable of reaching turbo speeds up to 4.2GHz.
This laptop comes with Windows 10 Home pre-installed, along with a 512GB NVMe solid-state drive and 8 GB of DD4 RAM. This marks the second time Nokia has entered the laptop market; previously, the company released the Booklet 3G—its initial and only netbook—over a decade ago.
Additional specifications for the PureBook X14 include an 86% screen-to-body ratio, 178-degree viewing angles, a matte black finish, speakers enhanced by Dolby Atmos, Windows Hello-enabled Face Unlock, Intel UHD 620 Graphics with a clock speed of up to 1.1GHz, Bluetooth 5.1, two USB 3.1 ports, one USB 2.0 port, and one USB Type C port, alongside dedicated ports for HDMI and ethernet connectivity. Weighing approximately 1.1kg, the Nokia PureBook X14 offers up to 8 hours of battery life on a single charge.
Flipkart, which has been expanding its private label and brand offerings in recent years, served as the design and manufacturing partner for this new laptop. A Flipkart representative explained to TechCrunch that the company has established a licensing agreement with Nokia, similar to its arrangement with Motorola (akin to Nokia’s collaboration with HMD Global for smartphones). The laptop will be available for purchase exclusively through Flipkart in India, and this is currently the only market where the device will be sold.
Vipul Mehrotra, VP for Brand Partnerships at Nokia, stated, “Introducing the Nokia brand to this new product category demonstrates the success of our collaboration with Flipkart. We are pleased to provide Indian consumers with a Nokia laptop that delivers innovation, along with the style, performance, and dependability that the Nokia brand represents.”
The Indian laptop market has seen increased interest from various companies in recent years, including smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi, which has introduced a selection of affordable laptops in the country this year. According to marketing research firm IDC, approximately 3.4 million PCs were shipped in India during the quarter ending in September, representing a 9.2% increase compared to the same period last year. IDC estimates that HP, Lenovo, and Dell collectively held over 70% of the market share during that quarter.
