Netflix Mobile Games Launch in Poland, Italy & Spain

Netflix Expands Mobile Gaming Offerings in Europe
Netflix is broadening its foray into mobile gaming with the introduction of three new titles. These games will be exclusively accessible to Netflix members in several European countries.
New Game Releases
The company is launching a set of casual games – “Shooting Hoops,” “Teeter Up,” and “Card Blast” – for members in Spain and Italy. Poland, where Netflix recently initiated the rollout of its members-only mobile games within its Android application, will also receive these additions.
Access to these games will mirror the existing model. A dedicated “Games” tab within the Netflix app will direct members to the games’ listings on the Google Play Store. Users will then download and install the games as they normally would.
Free-to-Play Experience
These new games will be completely free to play, devoid of any advertisements or in-app purchases. Unlike the initial game releases, which were linked to the “Stranger Things” series, these titles are standalone casual games designed for broad appeal.
This represents a growing investment by Netflix in mobile gaming, positioning it as an integral part of a wider entertainment package extending beyond traditional streaming.
Rollout Schedule
The games are launching in Poland today, joining the existing “Stranger Things” titles. Netflix subscribers in Italy and Spain will gain access to both the new trio and the two “Stranger Things” games.
The official launch time is 8 AM PT, corresponding to 5 PM in Italy and Spain. This is when the games will become live on the Netflix service.
Strategic Expansion
During its Q2 earnings call, Netflix discussed its plans for expansion into the gaming market, emphasizing that it was in the exploratory phase.
“We view gaming as another content category for us, comparable to our expansion into original films, animation, and unscripted TV,” stated Netflix in its shareholder letter. The company’s initial focus is on free mobile games.
Previous Game Launches
In late August, Netflix transitioned two “Stranger Things” titles, developed by BonusXP, into Netflix exclusives. These games were previously available on the Play Store and remain playable for existing users.
However, new players can now discover “Stranger Things: 1984” and “Stranger Things 3: The Game” through the Netflix app.
Developer Partnerships
“Card Blast” is licensed from Rogue Games, based in the U.S., while “Shooting Hoops” and “Teeter Up” are developed by Frosty Pop, a Canadian studio.
The developers are not credited on the Play Store listings, as the games are published under Netflix’s Google Play account.
Company Statement
A Netflix spokesperson confirmed the launch details, stating, “Starting today, Netflix members in Spain and Italy can play five mobile games on Android as part of our ongoing games rollout.”
These five games include “Stranger Things: 1984,” “Stranger Things 3: The Game,” “Card Blast,” “Teeter Up,” and “Shooting Hoops,” which are also available in Poland. The company reiterated its commitment to ad-free gaming with no in-app purchases.
Market Selection
Netflix initially chose Poland as a test market due to its active mobile gaming community. Italy and Spain were selected for similar reasons, alongside the importance of the European market to Netflix’s overall strategy.
The company intends to launch games in other regions, including the U.S., and eventually bring them to iOS, though specific timelines remain unconfirmed.
The mobile games will be accessible within the Games tab in the Netflix Android app in Poland, Italy, and Spain, beginning at 8 AM ET/11 AM PT/ 5 PM CET today.
