NBC News Election Results Widget for iOS 14

NBC News has enhanced its iOS application with a new capability that delivers election coverage, statistics, and outcomes directly to the home screen of your iPhone or iPad. The application’s new “Decision 2020” iOS 14 widget enables users to personalize a selection of widgets displaying information concerning early voting figures, polling data, and up-to-the-minute election results, and more.

Prior to this update, the NBC News app already featured a selection of widgets, including small, medium, and large options presenting the latest news headlines, widgets tracking COVID-19 trends, and a photographic collection known as the “Week in Pictures” widget set.

However, the Decision 2020 widget was only recently introduced.

This new widget is offered in a medium banner size and includes a variety of personalization settings. This allows users to add multiple instances of the widget to their home screen, each displaying a different set of data.

The widget automatically cycles through its different sections by default. Alternatively, users can choose to display a single section per widget by pressing and holding on the widget, then selecting “Edit Widget” from the displayed menu.

The initial options available include Plan Your Vote, the National Polling Average, Recent Polls, Early Voting Statistics, Election News, and Election Results. The latter option will likely be of greatest interest to many users at this time.

Users can also specify their location within the widget by selecting their state from a list in the widget configuration settings. This feature allows for monitoring of local election results, if desired. Otherwise, the widget will default to displaying national results.

To begin using the new widget, install the NBC News app, then press and hold on your home screen, select “Edit Home Screen,” tap the plus (+) button in the top-left corner, and scroll to find NBC News in the list.

The NBC News app is also capable of sending push notifications, including geographically targeted alerts for individual state races, to users on any mobile phone or device.
