Nansen Raises $12M from a16z for Crypto Market Intelligence

Navigating the Complexities of Crypto Markets with Advanced Analytics
The aspirations of cryptocurrency investors have grown rapidly, mirroring the market's recent expansion. However, institutional investors have faced challenges in interpreting the vast amount of blockchain data available, due to a lack of sophisticated analytical tools.
Nansen: Empowering Crypto Investors with Data-Driven Insights
Nansen, a blockchain analytics startup, is developing a platform designed to provide crypto traders and hedge funds with the confidence to navigate the decentralized finance (DeFi) landscape. The platform analyzes publicly available blockchain data from approximately 90 million Ethereum wallets, identifying emerging trends and opportunities for its users.
According to Alex Svanevik, Nansen’s CEO, the platform’s high-quality data empowers investors to track the movements of sophisticated investors, identify new investment projects, and conduct thorough due diligence.
Securing $12 Million in Series A Funding
The startup has recently secured $12 million in Series A funding, led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), which recently launched a substantial $2.2 billion crypto fund. Additional investors in this round include Coinbase Ventures, Skyfall Ventures, imToken Ventures, Mechanism Capital, and QCP Capital.
A Suite of Dashboards for Diverse Crypto Verticals
Nansen’s core offering is a collection of dashboards tailored to specific sectors within the cryptocurrency space.
Beyond the popular DeFi sector, Nansen leverages its labeled database to uncover investment opportunities in areas like yield farming, liquidity pools, decentralized exchange (DEX) data, and the identification of trending NFT collections. The “Token God Mode” dashboard, for example, provides investors with blockchain data on specific ERC20 tokens, tracking exchange activity and notable wallet transactions over time.
Flexible Pricing to Cater to a Broad Customer Base
Recognizing the need to attract both individual and institutional investors, Nansen offers a tiered pricing structure. A $116 per month subscription provides access to real-time analytics across various market indicators. A more comprehensive $2,500 per month plan offers dedicated support, including weekly calls, exclusive chat groups, and sector-specific insights.
While Nansen publishes some of its broader data publicly on its website, the most detailed and current information is reserved for its paying subscribers.
Serving Leading Crypto Investment Funds
Nansen currently serves a number of prominent crypto-focused funds, including Polychain, Three Arrows, Pantera, and Defiance Capital.
