Multibar: Windows Application Dock - Organize Your Apps

Introducing Multibar: A Smart Application Dock for Windows

Multibar is a sophisticated and visually appealing application dock designed specifically for Windows operating systems. Its primary function is to streamline access to your frequently used files, folders, and applications, enhancing your overall workflow efficiency.

The application provides both hotkey support and quick launch commands for immediate access to desired resources. Furthermore, Multibar contributes to a cleaner, more organized desktop environment by minimizing clutter.

Initial Setup and Indexing

Upon initial launch following installation, Multibar will begin indexing the files and folders on your system. This indexing process is crucial for enabling the application’s instant search functionality.

Currently, Multibar is limited to indexing the C drive; indexing of other drives is not yet supported.

Accessing Multibar and Utilizing Quick Launch

Multibar can be activated with a simple keystroke – the Windows key. Pressing this key instantly brings the application to the forefront and focuses the cursor on the integrated search field.

Below the search field, a selection of quick launch commands is displayed. You can either type the name of the program or folder you wish to open, or use the Tab key to navigate through the available options.

Dynamic Icon Previews

When you position your mouse cursor over an application icon within Multibar, recently used files associated with that application will be displayed, assuming this Windows feature hasn't been disabled.

Similarly, hovering over a folder icon will reveal its contents, providing a quick preview of the files it contains.

Manual Activation and Settings Access

Multibar can also be manually opened by clicking the small pull-down label located on the side or top of your screen. This provides an alternative method of access.

To access Multibar’s configuration options, click the tools icon situated in the top left corner of the dock when it is open.

Customization Options

Within the settings, you can modify the hotkey used to activate Multibar, or disable the Windows key activation altogether. Additional hotkey customizations are available through a dedicated tab.

The application allows for extensive customization of its appearance. You can adjust its screen location, behavior, icon size, and background, as well as control which icons are displayed.

Themes and Visual Styles

Currently, Multibar offers a selection of 11 different skins, accessible through the Themes tab, allowing you to personalize its visual style.

Additional Tools and Addons

Multibar includes a few bundled tools, such as games, a friend meter, and a weather forecast application. Further addons, some of which are premium, can be found on the Ticno website.

Notably, the smart folders feature advertised during installation is currently absent in the latest build.

Weather Forecast Addon

The weather forecast tool is the most functional of the default addons. It automatically determines your location based on your IP address and displays a five-day weather forecast when you hover over its icon.

The included games and friendmeter addons were found to be non-functional during testing and are recommended to be disabled via the addons tab in the settings.

Overall Assessment

In conclusion, Multibar is a remarkably sleek, unobtrusive, and intuitive application dock suitable for Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
