Xbox Cloud Gaming Now Available on Android

Following a beta period, Microsoft has released an update to the Xbox Cloud Gaming app for Android devices. This update unlocks new entertainment possibilities for the Surface Duo.

The company had previously discussed and previewed this integration, but it remained a key missing feature until now.

Dual-Screen Gaming Experience

The application functions intuitively on the Surface Duo. Games are displayed on the upper screen, while the lower screen transforms into a virtual Xbox controller when the device is in Compose Mode.

While touchscreen controls have limitations, a second screen demonstrably enhances the gaming experience.

Expanding Touch Control Support

Currently, over 50 game titles support Xbox Touch Controls. These titles are accessible to individuals with an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

A Second Chance for the Duo?

The Surface Duo, initially presented as a compelling alternative to traditional foldable phones, experienced a lukewarm reception at launch.

Microsoft responded by reducing the device’s price from $1,500 to $1,000, suggesting initial sales were below expectations.

However, continued software support, such as this Xbox Cloud Gaming integration, indicates Microsoft’s commitment to the Surface Duo line, despite its initial challenges.
