Anticipated Announcements and Focus Areas

Regarding the expected content at Build, the Copilot suite of AI-powered products will undoubtedly be a central topic. Microsoft is actively embedding artificial intelligence throughout its software ecosystem and services.

The company intends for AI to become a significant contributor to its overall revenue. Demonstrating this commitment, Microsoft recently integrated Copilot into its Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscriptions, accompanied by a 30% price increase.

Recent Copilot Enhancements

Over the past few weeks, Microsoft has expanded Copilot’s capabilities with the addition of “deep research” functionalities. Furthermore, Copilot now possesses the ability to access the internet and execute tasks on behalf of users.

Internal research and development initiatives have reportedly been accelerated to foster competition with OpenAI, its current AI partner. This involves the creation of proprietary AI models designed to power Copilot, reducing reliance on OpenAI’s technology.

Currently, Copilot’s functionality is heavily reliant on models developed by OpenAI.
