Meta Adds Stripe CEO Patrick Collison and Dina Powell McCormick to Board

Meta Announces New Board Members
Dina Powell McCormick, a banking executive and former presidential advisor, and Patrick Collison, co-founder and CEO of Stripe, are set to join the board of directors at Meta. This information was initially reported by Axios.
Backgrounds of the New Board Members
Powell McCormick dedicated sixteen years to leadership positions within Goldman Sachs. She also held the role of Deputy National Security Advisor during the initial term of President Donald J. Trump’s administration.
Patrick Collison, alongside his brother John, founded the digital payments leader Stripe in 2010. The company’s valuation reached $91.5 billion earlier this year.
Strategic Implications of the Appointments
These appointments are viewed as part of a larger strategy by Meta to broaden the expertise represented on its board. The company aims to include more professionals with extensive global business experience.
According to Axios, the timing of these additions may also be related to Meta’s efforts to improve its standing with the Trump administration. This is particularly relevant as the company prepares for an antitrust trial scheduled to begin Monday.
Previous Involvement and Effective Date
Collison has previously contributed to Meta as a member of its advisory group. Powell McCormick, however, is a new addition to the Meta organization.
Both appointments will officially take effect on April 15th.
