lucid reveals the price of its base air sedan — $77,400 minus $7,500 us tax credit

Lucid, the electric vehicle manufacturer, has now announced the starting price for its most affordable model: $77,400. Customers in the United States are also eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit, which reduces the final cost to $69,900.

This particular iteration of the Lucid Air features a slightly more basic configuration compared to the higher-end models. At the $77,400 price point, purchasers receive a powertrain delivering 480 horsepower, with Lucid estimating a range of 408 miles – although official EPA testing is still pending. A dual-motor, all-wheel drive option is also offered.

This model plays a vital role in Lucid’s overall business strategy. The company had previously announced details and pricing for its more premium Air sedan options. This new, more accessible model expands Lucid’s potential customer base while maintaining a competitive level of features and performance.

Prior to this announcement, Lucid had only indicated that the price would be under $80,000.

In a recent conversation with TechCrunch, Lucid’s CEO, Peter Rawlinson, shared with editor Darrell Etherington that the Air would be offered at a price point “remarkably below $80,000.”

The Lucid Air is entering a market largely controlled by Tesla. Even with this pricing, the Lucid Air remains comparatively positioned against the Tesla Model S, which, at a similar cost, provides comparable range with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system.
