Apple 2020 Mac Event: First Apple Silicon Macs Revealed
Apple has experienced a busy autumn, and today marks the occasion of its third significant product announcement event this season. This presentation will primarily showcase the initial Macs equipped with Apple Silicon, the company’s pioneering, internally developed processors created specifically for its macOS computers. Apple revealed its plan to move away from Intel processors and adopt its own chips during its developer conference in June, but this event will provide the first official demonstration of commercially available Macs running on the new technology.
Preliminary information suggests that at least two updated 13-inch MacBook models, encompassing both a Pro and an Air version, will be unveiled during this event. There is also a possibility, though considered less probable, that a 16-inch MacBook Pro could be introduced. Furthermore, macOS 11 Big Sur is anticipated to receive an official public release date, and it will be compatible with both Arm-based and Intel-based Macs. The potential introduction of new accessories, including Apple’s frequently discussed AirTags tracking devices and possibly refreshed headphones, remains uncertain.
We will provide comprehensive coverage of all announcements made by Apple in real-time as they occur, beginning when the virtual event commences at 10 AM PT (1 PM ET).
