LG OLED TVs Upgraded for New Year - Latest Models

LG Continues OLED Dominance with 2022 TV Lineup
LG has consistently achieved success with its OLED televisions in recent years. The C1 model established itself as a leading flat screen, making the company’s 2022 offerings a focal point at CES. LG appears to be refining a winning formula, implementing relatively minor updates to its best-selling televisions, alongside the introduction of additional screen sizes and enhanced smart features.
The Evolution of OLED Technology
While not a recent invention, OLED technology has undergone significant advancements. Sony initially showcased an OLED television in 2007, but it was hampered by low resolution and a prohibitive cost. Over the past few years, however, the technology has matured, becoming accessible to a wider consumer base.
OLED displays differ fundamentally from traditional LED-lit LCD panels by eliminating the need for a backlight. Instead of illuminating color pixels through a central light source, each pixel in an OLED display functions as an individual light-emitting diode. Consequently, when a pixel is deactivated, it emits no light, resulting in exceptional contrast and a remarkably wide color gamut.
The absence of a backlight also allows manufacturers to innovate with form factors, enabling the creation of rollable or bendable television screens.
Recognition and New Series
LG’s televisions have earned CES Innovation Awards for eight consecutive years, and the company enthusiastically presented its latest advancements in television technology.
Two new television series were unveiled: the G2 and C2, both incorporating upgraded OLED technology to deliver improved visual performance. LG asserts that these enhancements enable higher brightness levels with increased clarity and detail, ultimately providing a more immersive viewing experience.
The LG 2022 G2 series introduces an 83-inch model and the first-ever 97-inch OLED displays. These new sizes complement the existing 55″, 65″, and 77″ options already available.
The G2 series also features a redesigned aesthetic with a “Gallery Design” that allows for flush-to-the-wall mounting.
Expanded C2 Series Options
The C2 series expands its lineup to include six display sizes for 2022. A new 42-inch version is particularly well-suited for smaller spaces or dedicated gaming setups. Alongside this addition, consumers can choose from 48-, 55-, 65-, 77-, and 83-inch models.
webOS 22 and User Experience
A redesigned user interface powered by LG’s webOS 22 is also new for 2022. This software includes customizable profiles, allowing multiple users to personalize settings, preferred streaming services, and content recommendations based on their viewing habits.
Enhanced Display and Gaming Features
LG has further refined its color accuracy, brightness, and flicker-free technology. The company also emphasizes its commitment to gaming, as its OLED TVs are the first to support Nvidia G-SYNC Compatibility.
Furthermore, LG’s displays are the first 8K OLED TVs to fully support 8K gaming with Nvidia’s RTX 30-Series graphics cards, alongside a range of gaming-specific settings accessible through the Game Optimizer menu.
Looking Ahead
Comprehensive reviews of the new LG televisions are expected in the coming weeks and months. For those unable to attend CES in Las Vegas, LG’s virtual exhibition booth remains accessible from 8 am PST on January 4th, 2022, offering a detailed look at these latest innovations.
