Kintent Secures $4 Million Seed Funding to Automate Security Compliance
Navigating security requirements is often a complex undertaking for tech companies, frequently involving extensive questionnaires. Kintent, a newly established startup focused on automating this process, has announced a $4 million seed funding round. The investment was spearheaded by Tola Capital, with contributions from various angel investors within the technology sector.
From Backend-as-a-Service to Compliance Automation
Sravish Sridhar, Kintent’s co-founder and CEO, previously led Kinvey, a provider of backend services for mobile application developers. Following the sale of Kinvey to Progress Software in 2017, Sridhar took time to explore new ventures.
His experience at Kinvey highlighted the significant compliance burdens faced by companies. This realization sparked the idea for Kintent – a platform designed to simplify the process of achieving and maintaining compliance with industry standards.
Trust Cloud: A System of Record for Trust
“Our core objective is to establish a comprehensive system for managing trust,” Sridhar explained. “Initially, we are concentrating on information security and data privacy compliance, particularly for SaaS businesses handling customer data or Protected Health Information (PHI).”
Kintent’s product, Trust Cloud, begins by assessing a company’s existing technology infrastructure and the types of data it stores. It then evaluates the level of compliance for each system against the relevant standards.
Based on data classification, Trust Cloud generates tailored best practices for achieving compliance. Furthermore, it provides ongoing testing capabilities to validate implemented measures and ensure continued adherence to standards.
Early Traction and Growth
Launched in 2019, Kintent focused on product development through early 2020. Sales commenced in October of the same year. Currently, the company serves 35 paying customers.
“We are generating revenue in the high six figures and have experienced consistent month-over-month growth of 20-30% since our launch,” Sridhar stated. “Our customer base spans across 11 different industries.”
Prioritizing Diversity and Inclusion
With a team of 14 employees and newly acquired funding, Kintent is planning to expand its workforce. Sridhar emphasizes the importance of diversity as a core company value.
“We are committed to actively seeking candidates from diverse backgrounds and experiences with each new hire,” he said.
Introducing a DEI Component
Kintent is also developing a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) component for Trust Cloud. This feature will be offered at no cost and will enable companies to track and report on diversity metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
The DEI tool will provide a means to measure progress and enhance diversity initiatives within organizations.
