Jitterbit Acquires PrimeApps to Expand Low-Code Capabilities

Jitterbit, a company specializing in API transformation, has announced the acquisition of PrimeApps, a low-code application development service based in Turkey. This strategic move aims to integrate PrimeApps’ capabilities with Jitterbit’s existing API platform.

The resulting platform will be designed to simplify the creation of business applications for users without extensive technical expertise. A key aspect of this will be the streamlined integration of diverse data sources.

Financial Details and Acquisition Strategy

The financial terms of the acquisition were not publicly disclosed. However, Jitterbit CEO George Gallegos expressed confidence in the deal’s value, stating it represents a significant opportunity within a multi-billion dollar market.

This acquisition is part of a broader trend for Jitterbit, which has been actively expanding its portfolio through strategic purchases. Last year, the company acquired Wevo, an iPaaS provider focused on Latin America, and eBridge, specializing in e-commerce and CRM data integration.

The Vision Behind the Acquisition

Jitterbit identified a growing need for a no-code/low-code layer integrated with its core platform. The company has long focused on automating business processes.

Gallegos explained that these integrations often necessitate custom user experiences developed by dedicated programmers. Recognizing this recurring pattern, Jitterbit sought to either develop this capability internally or acquire a company like PrimeApps.

PrimeApps' Integration and Future Outlook

Founded in 2015 by Serdar Turan, PrimeApps has operated without external funding. All 25 of its employees will be joining the Jitterbit team.

Turan highlighted the challenges of global expansion and emphasized how Jitterbit’s established presence complements PrimeApps’ strengths. The PrimeApps brand will be retired, with its services fully integrated into Jitterbit’s offerings.

Competitive Landscape and Market Impact

Previously, Jitterbit competed with established players like MuleSoft and Boomi in the iPaaS market. The integration of PrimeApps positions Jitterbit as a provider of a more comprehensive, end-to-end solution.

It is anticipated that other companies in the iPaaS space may follow suit with similar acquisitions or development efforts.

The Promise of Low-Code Development

“The potential of low-code development is now becoming a reality,” stated Turan. “By joining Jitterbit, we are positioned as a leader in this emerging revolution.”

He further explained that the combined platform will empower “citizen developers” – those closest to customers – to rapidly create digital solutions without relying heavily on IT resources. This will be achieved through Jitterbit’s advanced iPaaS and API management capabilities.

Key Benefits of the Combined Platform

  • Simplified application development for non-technical users.
  • Streamlined integration of various data sources.
  • Faster time-to-market for new digital experiences.
  • Empowerment of citizen developers.

The new platform is expected to be available in April 2022.
