Japan's Technopro Acquires Robosoft for $108 Million

Robosoft Technologies, a digital solutions company based in India, announced on Tuesday a final agreement for its acquisition by TechnoPro, a Japanese IT services firm, for a sum of $108 million.
Company History and Early Focus
Established in 1996, Robosoft Technologies initially focused on providing software services, with a specialization in the Mac platform.
The company subsequently expanded its services to include application development as a core offering.
Apple Recognition and Mobile Transition
Robosoft distinguished itself as one of the first companies worldwide to achieve Mac OS developer certification from Apple.
This early recognition led to repeated acknowledgements from the iPhone manufacturer over the following years.
The company anticipated the growth of mobile technology with the introduction of the iPhone and the App Store, stating, “We began building mobile apps for clients across the globe and there’s been no looking back.”
Client Base and Service Expansion
Backed by investors including Ascent Capital and Kalaari Capital, Robosoft has served a diverse clientele across various sectors.
These include games, news, sports, utilities, and lifestyle industries.
Over time, the company broadened its capabilities to encompass product advisory services, alongside tools for design, engineering, and data analytics.
Notable Projects and Global Reach
Robosoft was responsible for the initial development of the mobile application for the Indian news organization, NDTV.
Other prominent clients include media conglomerate Viacom and McDonald’s India.
The company’s reach extends to clients located in the United States and the Middle East.
Strategic Shift to Digital Solutions
Beginning in 2017, Robosoft initiated a strategic repositioning, aiming to be recognized as a comprehensive “digital solutions” provider.
Leadership Continuity and Future Outlook
According to a statement released on Tuesday, the existing management team at Robosoft will remain in their positions following the acquisition.
Rohith Bhat, founder and managing director of Robosoft, commented, “Robosoft has had a phenomenal journey over the last two decades… I am very happy that we are handing over the reins of the Company to a global player like TechnoPro.”
Takeshi Yagi, president, representative director and CEO of TechnoPro, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We look forward to a close collaboration with Robosoft… and see tremendous synergies between TechnoPro and Robosoft.”
TechnoPro is a firm listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
