Intel CCO Christoph Schell Resigns - Latest News

Christoph Schell Departs Intel After Two Years
Christoph Schell, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Intel, is set to leave the company. This decision was formalized in a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Mr. Schell informed Intel of his intention to resign on Monday, with his departure scheduled for June 30th. He is leaving the position to explore a new professional endeavor, as stated in the official filing.
Succession Plans and Interim Leadership
Currently, the identity of Schell’s successor remains undisclosed. However, Greg Ernst, currently the Corporate Vice President of Intel’s sales and marketing division, will assume the role of interim leader. This information was confirmed by an Intel spokesperson to TechCrunch.
The spokesperson conveyed the company’s appreciation for Schell’s dedication. “Christoph has worked tirelessly on behalf of our customers during his time with Intel,” they stated, “and we are grateful for his many contributions to our business. We wish him the very best in his next role.”
Schell’s Background and Responsibilities
Joining Intel in February 2022, Schell was responsible for overseeing the company’s sales, marketing, and communications operations. He reported directly to the CEO’s office.
Prior to his tenure at Intel, Schell held prominent positions at other leading corporations. These included serving as Chief Commercial Officer at HP, Executive Vice President of Growth Markets at Philips, and a Brand Management Leader at Procter & Gamble.
Intel’s Ongoing Transformation
Schell’s departure coincides with a period of significant change at Intel, driven by recently appointed CEO Lip-Bu Tan. Tan has initiated a substantial restructuring of the company.
Key changes implemented under Tan’s leadership include the designation of certain divisions as “noncore” units, the sale of a majority stake in the Altera semiconductor business, and a streamlining of the company’s executive hierarchy.
Recent Policy Shifts
Furthermore, Tan has recently appointed a new head of Artificial Intelligence and announced plans for workforce reductions. A return-to-office mandate requiring four days a week in the office for all employees was also implemented earlier this month.
Additionally, the previously announced plan to spin off Intel Capital, the company’s corporate venture capital arm, has been reversed.
