Instagram Reels Comment Replies: New Feature Launched

Instagram Introduces Reels Visual Replies
Instagram has recently launched a new feature called “Reels Visual Replies.” This allows users to respond to comments on posts using Reels videos. When replying to a comment, a new button now appears, enabling the creation of a video response.
How Reels Visual Replies Work
The video reply is presented as a sticker within the comment section. This innovative approach provides a dynamic way for creators to engage with their audience.
“We deeply value the communities that creators cultivate on Instagram,” stated Instagram in a recent announcement on Twitter. “Therefore, we are pleased to introduce Reels Visual Replies, a novel feature designed to enhance interaction with your followers.”
Integration with Existing Features
This new feature seamlessly integrates Reels further into the broader Instagram platform. It mirrors a similar functionality found on TikTok, where users can respond to comments with video replies.
TikTok initially implemented this feature last year, offering a method to provide additional context and address user inquiries. Given its success on TikTok, it’s logical that Instagram would introduce a comparable feature for its own short-form video platform.
Recent Instagram Updates
The introduction of Reels Visual Replies is part of a series of recent updates to Instagram. These include:
- A new end-of-year “Playback” IG Stories feature.
- A “Rage Shake” feature for reporting app issues.
- The ability to delete individual items from carousel posts.
- A “Take a Break” feature to encourage mindful usage.
- A new “Add Yours” sticker for creating public threads.
Playback: An End-of-Year Recap
The “Playback” feature utilizes the Stories Archive, allowing users to curate and share up to 10 stories with their followers. Eligibility requires posting more than three stories this year or having Stories Archive enabled.
Instagram provides suggestions for Playback posts, but users retain full control over their selections. This feature is available for a limited time, spanning “several weeks.”
Additional Features for Enhanced User Experience
Instagram has also implemented a “Rage Shake” feature. Users can shake their phones to report problems with the app and provide details about the issue.
Furthermore, users can now delete specific items from carousel posts containing three or more images or videos. Carousel posts can accommodate up to 10 photos and videos, and this update offers greater editing flexibility.
Promoting Digital Wellbeing
A new “Take a Break” feature is currently being tested. It prompts users to take a break from Instagram after 10, 20, or 30 minutes of use.
The “Add Yours” sticker facilitates the creation of public threads within Stories, enabling users to respond to prompts or specific topics shared by others.
