Instagram Link Stickers: Share Links in Stories Now!

Instagram Extends Link Sticker Access to All Users
Instagram announced on Wednesday a significant update to its Stories feature. The Link Sticker functionality, previously restricted, is now available to all users of the platform.
Transition from Swipe-Up Links
This expansion follows the recent removal of the “swipe-up” link option within Instagram Stories. The company has replaced it with the more versatile Link Sticker. Previously, both the swipe-up link and the Link Sticker were exclusive to businesses and prominent content creators.
Benefits of Expanded Link Sharing
Instagram asserts that enabling link sharing benefits accounts of all sizes and categories. This broadened access empowers every user to share content of their choosing directly within their Stories.
Historically, link sharing has been a crucial tool for creators and businesses. It allows them to direct their audience to external resources, such as websites for product information, articles for further reading, or services for registration.
Community Feedback Drives the Change
“This decision was made in response to feedback from our community,” Instagram stated. “Users expressed the significant impact that link sharing would have on the growth of creators and businesses, regardless of their size.”
How to Use the Link Sticker
Accessing the feature is straightforward. Select the sticker tool from the top navigation bar while creating or uploading content to your Story. Choose the “Link Sticker,” input your desired link, and tap “Done.”
You can then position the sticker anywhere within your Story. Tapping on the sticker reveals alternative color options for customization.
Addressing Safety Concerns
Instagram emphasized that expanding Link Sticker access was carefully considered. The company acknowledged potential risks to the app’s integrity and user safety.
The concern is that malicious actors could exploit the feature to disseminate misinformation or engage in spam activities. Consequently, accounts found to be sharing misinformation or hate speech will be prohibited from using Link Stickers.
Future of Linking on Instagram
This rollout represents the initial phase in a broader effort to enhance link-sharing capabilities for all Instagram users. Currently, direct linking within regular Instagram posts remains unavailable.
This limitation has fueled the popularity of “link in bio” platforms like Linktree, Shorby, and Linkin.bio. However, the expanded Link Sticker access provides users with an additional avenue for sharing links through their accounts.
