Instacart Offers Reduced & Free Delivery, New 'Deals Tab'

Instacart Introduces New Savings Options for Customers
Instacart, the on-demand grocery delivery platform, is currently evaluating a novel delivery choice. This option provides reduced or eliminated delivery fees for orders submitted at least 24 hours prior to the designated delivery time.
While the specific markets involved in this test were not disclosed, Instacart indicates that this feature is designed for customers who prefer advance planning and cost savings.
New Features to Enhance Affordability
Beyond the new delivery option, Instacart has implemented additional features focused on making grocery shopping more accessible financially.
A new “Deals Tab” has been launched, offering customers daily coupons from a variety of retailers and brands. This tab allows users to easily find sales on essential items, bulk purchases, and products for special events.
Expanded Access to Dollar Store Deals
Instacart is also introducing a “Dollar Store Hub.”
This hub enables users to browse discounted products from over 13,000 dollar store locations, including popular retailers like Dollar Tree, 99 Cents Only Store, Five Below, and Family Dollar.
Benefits for Express Members
Further savings are being extended to Instacart Express members.
This membership, priced at $9.99 monthly, already provides unlimited free deliveries on orders exceeding $35. Soon, Express members will receive 5% credit back on qualifying Pickup orders, which can be applied to future purchases.
Instacart has significantly expanded its Pickup service to over 4,500 stores, partnering with 120 grocery chains such as ALDI, Food Lion, Gelson’s, Publix, Price Chopper, Schnucks, Shop ’n Save, Sprouts, The Fresh Market, and Wegmans.
Company Statement
“Online grocery shouldn’t be a luxury, and we’re committed to making Instacart the most affordable way for families across North America to get the food they need from the retailers they love,” stated Asha Sharma, Instacart’s chief operating officer.
Recent Acquisitions Signal Future Growth
These new feature launches follow Instacart’s recent acquisitions last month.
The company acquired Caper AI, a startup specializing in smart carts and instant checkout technology, for $350 million.
Additionally, Instacart purchased FoodStorm, a SaaS order management system (OMS) designed for grocery retailers’ order-ahead and catering needs, for an undisclosed sum.
These acquisitions demonstrate Instacart’s strategic intent to further integrate into the retail technology landscape.
