Mixhalo Raises $24M for In-Person Event Sound Service

The Challenges and Growth of Live Performance Audio Streaming
The past two years have presented significant hardships for those involved in live entertainment. As live events conclude, numerous industries that depend on these performances—both directly and indirectly—are experiencing related setbacks.
In June, as venues began to cautiously reopen, John Vars, CEO of Mixhalo, explained to TechCrunch that the pandemic provided an opportunity to refine their core product. This led to the introduction of two new features: Mixhalo Over Cellular and Mixhalo Rodeo.
New Funding and Expansion
Vars also noted that the absence of live events allowed venue operators more time to consider improvements to the fan experience and explore innovative solutions. While initial business development was impacted, the company’s sales pipeline ultimately surpassed pre-pandemic levels as the year progressed.
Mixhalo has recently announced a $24 million Series B funding round, led by Fortress Investment. This follows a $10.7 million Series A round secured in 2019. The company intends to allocate these funds primarily to expanding its team and investing in research and development.
According to Vars, the new capital will be used to meet growing market demand and to continue developing their technology and product offerings. Hiring will occur across all departments, with a particular focus on technology roles. Several key hires have already been made, and the company is actively seeking additional talent.
Strategic Partnerships and Venue Integration
Vars stated in a press release that the company’s resilience during a difficult period for the entertainment industry stemmed from a commitment to product improvement and the establishment of crucial partnerships.
Fortress Investment, the lead investor, is also the company behind TSX Broadway, a Times Square complex featuring an outdoor stage and prominent visual displays. Mixhalo’s technology will be integrated into this venue.
Recent High-Profile Clients
Mixhalo has secured several notable contracts recently, including agreements with:
- Sting (at Caesars Palace)
- Red Rocks Amphitheatre
- Los Angeles Football Club
- Sacramento Kings
- Buffalo Sabres
These partnerships demonstrate the increasing adoption of low-latency audio streaming solutions within the live entertainment sector.
