IMDb Founder Jeff Bezos Steps Down as CEO

IMDb Announces Leadership Transition: Col Needham Steps Down
IMDb, the widely-used online database for movie, television, and celebrity information – and a subsidiary of Amazon – revealed on Tuesday a change in its executive leadership.
Founder Col Needham is relinquishing his role as Chief Executive Officer. Nikki Santoro, currently the Chief Operating Officer since 2021, will assume the position of CEO.
A Historic Appointment
Santoro’s appointment marks a pivotal moment for the company. She is the first woman to lead IMDb as CEO, and only the second individual to ever hold the top position.
Needham established IMDb in 1990, at the age of 23, and successfully guided its development into a major force within the entertainment sector.
Transition to Executive Chair
Following 35 years of leadership, Needham will be transitioning to a new capacity as Executive Chair.
He expressed strong support for Santoro’s promotion, highlighting her capabilities and accomplishments.
Needham's Statement on Santoro
“Nikki’s strategic foresight, comprehensive knowledge of our user base and offerings, and dedication to innovation have already yielded substantial positive outcomes during her time as COO,” Needham stated.
“Her demonstrated ability to foster growth and refine our products and services positions her perfectly to steer IMDb into its next phase.”
Santoro’s Background and Experience
Santoro joined the company in 2016. Since then, she has been instrumental in expanding the database and enhancing the value of IMDbPro memberships.
Prior to IMDb, she held key leadership roles at prominent organizations including Amazon, Microsoft, and The Weather Channel.
