Accessing and Managing Your Calendar from the Windows Taskbar

The built-in Windows calendar, even for those who don't utilize the Windows Mail & Calendar application, offers considerable utility. Following the Anniversary Update to Windows 10, users gained the ability to view their schedule and incorporate new calendar events directly from the Windows taskbar.

Viewing Your Agenda

To display your agenda, simply left-click on the time and date displayed on the Windows taskbar. If your calendar is already configured—or is synchronized with an external calendar service—clicking on any specific day will reveal a list of scheduled events for that date. Selecting an event will then direct you to the complete calendar page, showcasing all relevant details.

Adding a new event is straightforward. Click the "Add" button, represented by a plus sign, to initiate the process.

Creating New Events

The calendar interface will open directly to a new event creation page, with the current date pre-populated. Provide a descriptive name for the event and input any additional pertinent information. Finally, click "Save and close" to finalize the entry.

Managing Agenda Visibility

Upon returning to the taskbar calendar, the newly added event should be visible. Should you wish to conceal the event list, click "Hide agenda" to minimize the display.

To re-open the agenda when needed, simply click "Show agenda". It's important to note that if the Windows calendar application isn't used, the only method to minimize its presence on the taskbar is by hiding the agenda. Currently, Windows does not offer an option to completely remove the agenda feature.
