Initially, establishing a connection between your Google account details and the Windows 10 calendar application is necessary.
To begin, access the Start Menu and select the Calendar application situated in the upper-right corner.

With the Calendar application open, locate the Settings icon, positioned in the lower-left corner of the interface, to add a Google account.

Within the settings menu, select "Accounts," then choose the "Add account" option.
Note: Microsoft has recently updated the app’s design; however, these instructions remain largely applicable. Select "Manage Accounts" in place of "Accounts" in this instance.


A prompt will appear, presenting several account options. You can add an Outlook.com account, connect an Office 365 Exchange account, a Google account, or an iCloud account. For this guide, select the "Google" option.

Selecting this will redirect you to the standard Google login portal.


If your Google account utilizes standard login procedures, it will connect automatically, taking you to the Calendar application’s main screen. However, if you have enabled two-step verification for enhanced security against unauthorized access, you will be prompted to enter the code provided via text message or phone call.

The final screen displayed before synchronization completes presents the Google permissions overview. This details the various applications and services that the Calendar will require access to for proper functionality on your Windows 10 desktop.


Upon approval of these permissions, you will be prepared to customize your Windows 10 Calendar according to your individual needs.

Once the Calendar application is operational, a variety of customizable settings become available. These settings will differ based on the connected service, such as Outlook, Google, or POP3.
Access to these settings is achieved by clicking the small clock icon situated in the lower-left corner of the Calendar app interface.

This action will lead you to Calendar Settings, revealing options that were enabled following the synchronization of your Google account.

Modify Sync Settings

After opening your Gmail account settings, choose the “Change mailbox sync settings” option. This will direct you to the configuration menu.

Within this menu, you can specify how often the Calendar checks for updates from its host account. Options include intervals of 15 or 30 minutes, among others. You can also control whether full descriptions and messages are downloaded with each update.

Additionally, the Calendar app’s connection point to Google can be altered. However, this is generally not advised unless a specific server-side configuration is in place.

It’s important to note that upon adding your Google account to the Calendar, your associated email will also be automatically synchronized. Should you wish to maintain separation between these two systems, this feature can be disabled.
To do so, first access your Account settings and toggle the email sync option to “Off”. The same process can be applied to Contacts and the Calendar itself. Disabling the Calendar sync will, however, prevent the app from accessing any previously configured data.

Alternatively, you can de-link your email and calendar by navigating to the Calendar tab within Settings. Then, disable the syncing process manually using the setting shown below, after the initial synchronization is complete:
