Sync Windows Live & Google Calendar - A Simple Guide

Calendar Synchronization Between Google and Windows Live

It is possible to synchronize calendars between Google Calendar and Windows Live Calendar, providing a unified view of your scheduling information.

This integration offers convenience, as events from one service become visible within the other.

Benefits of Synchronization

For instance, adding your Windows Live Calendar to your Google Calendar account enables automatic display within the Android calendar application, eliminating the need for separate account configurations.

Conversely, syncing your Google Calendar with Windows Live Calendar facilitates viewing your Google events directly within the Windows Live Mail desktop application.

Windows Live Mail Integration

The Windows Live Mail application natively supports only Windows Live Calendar events, lacking built-in Google Calendar compatibility.

Therefore, synchronization is crucial for those who rely on Windows Live Mail for calendar management.

Device Compatibility

While Windows Phone and other devices may offer the capability to incorporate external calendars, additional configuration steps are generally necessary on each individual device.

This contrasts with the seamless integration achieved through direct synchronization between Google and Windows Live calendar services.

Synchronization streamlines calendar management across platforms and applications.

Integrating Windows Live Calendar with Google Calendar

To incorporate a calendar from Windows Live Calendar into Google Calendar, begin by accessing your Windows Live account and navigating to the Windows Live Calendar website. Locate and click the Share button positioned at the top of the page. Then, choose the specific calendar you wish to synchronize.

Paste the URL that was previously copied into the designated URL box. It is crucial to modify the webcals:// prefix of the URL to http://. Failure to do so will prevent Google Calendar from correctly interpreting the URL.

After completing this adjustment, click Add Calendar. The Windows Live Calendar will then become visible within your Google Calendar account.

You have the option to customize the appearance of the calendar within your calendar list by clicking the arrow to the right of its name and assigning a color. Further customization, such as assigning a specific name to the calendar, can be done through the Calendar Settings link, accessible after clicking the arrow.

Integrating Google Calendar with Windows Live Calendar

To display a Google Calendar within your Windows Live Calendar, begin by accessing your Google account and navigating to Google Calendar. Identify the specific calendar you wish to synchronize in the sidebar. Then, click the downward-facing arrow adjacent to its name and choose Calendar settings.
