Set up Text Message Forwarding on Mac or iPad - Easy Guide

Apple Continuity and Text Message Forwarding
The Continuity features offered by Apple are highly regarded, particularly the convenience of receiving phone calls and text messages on your Mac or iPad directly from your iPhone. However, automatic forwarding of text messages to these devices requires initial configuration.
Forwarding text messages proves beneficial as it eliminates the necessity of having your iPhone immediately accessible for communication. All incoming text messages to your iPhone will be automatically relayed to your Mac or iPad through the Messages application.
Once configured, this functionality closely resembles instant messaging. You can compose and send messages as if directly using your phone, with all texts continuing to be sent and received via standard SMS.
Setting Up Text Message Forwarding
To enable text message forwarding, begin by opening the "Settings" application on your iPhone. Then, select "Messages" from the settings menu. Following this, tap on "Text Message Forwarding" to authorize the sending and receiving of texts on other devices logged into your iMessage account.
In this instance, two additional devices are available for text message forwarding. Selecting your Mac activates the feature, and subsequent verification is required to authorize this device.
The Messages app on your Mac will then present a dialog box, informing you that entering a code displayed on your iPhone is necessary to enable sending and receiving of iPhone texts.
A corresponding notification will appear on your iPhone, prompting you to input the code shown on your Mac. Entering the code and tapping "Allow" will then route any incoming texts from your iPhone to your Mac as well.
Consequently, while working on your Macbook, even with your iPhone located elsewhere, you will not miss crucial text messages. Furthermore, you can respond to them without physically accessing your iPhone!
Managing Forwarding Settings
To extend text message forwarding to other devices, simply repeat the outlined process for each one. Conversely, to disable forwarding, navigate back to the "Messages" settings on your iPhone and deactivate the devices previously authorized.
