Share Location via Messages on Apple Watch - Quick Guide

Sharing Your Location via Messages on Apple Watch

Do you need to communicate your whereabouts to a friend or family member? Your Apple Watch allows for the rapid and straightforward transmission of your current location within a Messages conversation.

Initiate location sharing through Messages by either opening a text message notification received on your watch or by navigating to the “Messages” application via the Digital Crown and tapping its icon.

Accessing a Conversation

If the Messages app was opened from the Home screen, select the conversation corresponding to the individual you wish to share your location with.

Initiating Location Transmission

To reveal available actions within the current conversation, employ a force touch on the screen. A force touch is activated by pressing firmly and holding your finger on the watch display…

…until a screen presenting three distinct options appears. Select the “Send Location” option.

Confirmation and Display

A message indicating “Locating…” will be displayed as a reply from you. Simultaneously, “Sending…” will appear at the top of the screen.

Upon successful transmission, your location will also be visible within the ongoing conversation.

Recipient View

The person receiving your location will see a notification stating that a phone number has sent a location, which can be viewed on their iPhone.

On the recipient’s iPhone, a miniature map will be integrated directly into the message thread.

Viewing Location Details

The recipient can then tap “Current Location” to launch the location within the Apple Maps application. This will enable them to obtain directions to your present position.

This feature provides a quick and convenient method for sharing your location with contacts directly from your Apple Watch.
