Disable Auto-Enhance in Windows 10 Photos App - Guide

Managing Automatic Photo Enhancements in Windows 10 Photos App
The Windows 10 Photos application has been redesigned as a universal application, facilitating seamless photo management across multiple devices. A key functionality within this app is its ability to automatically improve your images when appropriate.
Automatic enhancements are applied by adjusting parameters such as brightness, contrast, and color balance. The app can also intelligently address common issues like red-eye and correct tilted horizons, if necessary.
Accessing the Photos App
Typically, a Photos tile is present on the Start menu for quick access. Simply click this tile to launch the application.
If you have customized your Start menu and the tile is not visible, the app can still be initiated by selecting “All apps” at the bottom of the Start menu. From there, locate and click “Photos” within the application list.

Disabling Automatic Enhancements
Once the Photos app is open, navigate to the “Settings” menu. This is located in the lower-left corner of the application window.

Within the “Viewing and editing” section, find the “Automatically enhance my photos” option. To disable this feature, click the slider button on the left side of the “On” position.

The slider will move to the left, and the button will change to a white color, indicating that automatic enhancements are now turned off.

Returning to the Main Window and Closing the App
To go back to the main interface of the Photos app, click the back arrow (pointing left) situated in the upper-left corner of the window.

To close the Photos application entirely, click the “X” button located in the upper-right corner of the window.

It’s important to note that when automatic enhancements are enabled, modifications are not directly saved to your original image files. You can freely toggle this option on or off without permanently altering your original photos, unless you explicitly choose to save the changes.
