Disable Flash in Chrome - Stop Flash Animations

Eliminating Flash Content in Chrome with BlockFlash2
Are you seeking a straightforward method to manage unwanted flash elements encountered while browsing webpages using Chrome? The BlockFlash2 User Script provides a solution. This tool allows for selective blocking of Flash content, enhancing your browsing experience.
Preparing Chrome for User Scripts
Implementing user scripts in Chrome requires initial configuration. Begin by locating the shortcut(s) used to launch Chrome. Right-click on each shortcut to access its properties.
Select “Properties” from the context menu. The “Properties” window will appear, displaying the “Shortcut” tab.
Within the “Target:” field, append the following command to the existing target path. Ensure a single space separates the concluding quotation mark from the command to enable user scripts.
Here’s an illustrative example of how the target path should appear after modification…
After making this adjustment, click “Apply”, and then “OK” to save the changes.
Placing the User Script in the Correct Directory
With your shortcuts properly configured, the next step is to place the user script within the designated “User Scripts” folder. Navigate through the following directory structure: AppData –> Local –> Google –> Chrome –> User Data –> Default.
If a folder named “User Scripts” does not already exist within the “Default” folder, create one. It is crucial to include the plural “s” at the end of the folder name.
Subsequently, simply add your newly downloaded user script to this folder. The downloaded script will initially be named “45343.user.js”. For easier identification and management, we have renamed it to “blockflash2”.

How does the user script function once installed? We tested its effectiveness by visiting the NBC’s Merlin website as a demonstration.
As illustrated, flash elements are displayed as hidden, indicated by the surrounding yellow text boxes. To activate a hidden flash element, click on the “[Play Flash]” placeholder.
The flash element then displays without issue. To conceal the flash element again, simply click “[Stop Flash]”.
Concluding Remarks
BlockFlash2 represents a valuable addition to Google Chrome. It empowers users to control their browsing experience by selectively displaying or hiding Flash content.
