HBO Max on Roku: Launch Date Announced

After a considerable delay, HBO Max is scheduled to become available on Roku devices starting tomorrow.
Given that Roku is utilized by a significant portion of people who have cancelled traditional cable or satellite television, the lack of an HBO Max application for Roku for almost seven months following the service’s initial release was quite noticeable. The arrival of the Max app had been anticipated for some time, with its release appearing to be contingent on agreements regarding subscription options for customers.
With the upcoming premiere of “Wonder Woman 1984” on Max in the coming weeks, it’s reasonable to believe there was substantial motivation to finalize an agreement. As part of this arrangement, Roku customers will have the option to subscribe to HBO Max directly through Roku’s integrated billing platform, Roku Pay.
This announcement follows approximately one month after HBO Max resolved a comparable situation by finally becoming accessible on Amazon Fire devices, and occurs shortly after the revelation of a major agreement that will result in all Warner Bros. films released in 2021 debuting on HBO Max concurrently with their theatrical releases.
With this latest launch, HBO Max will now be supported on the majority of major platforms, including iOS, Android, Chromecast, Roku, Amazon’s Fire devices, computers (PC/Mac), and current-generation gaming consoles, with the exception of the Nintendo Switch.
