Gravitee Raises $60M to Revolutionize API Management

Gravitee Secures $60 Million in Series C Funding
Gravitee, a platform focused on managing APIs and digital traffic, has successfully closed a $60 million Series C funding round. Sixth Street Growth spearheaded the investment, with additional participation from Riverside Acceleration Capital and Albion VC.
Funding Details and Future Plans
This new injection of capital elevates Gravitee’s total funding to over $125 million. According to CEO Rory Blundell, the funds will be strategically allocated to accelerate the development of innovative product features and facilitate the company’s expansion into new geographical markets.
The Complexity of Modern Data Systems
Contemporary data infrastructures are inherently complex. APIs, which define the rules for data exchange between applications, frequently utilize diverse tools and protocols. Blundell argues that a centralized control plane is essential for unifying these systems and preventing operational blind spots.
“The pace of integration for AI agents, streaming data, APIs, and hybrid systems is accelerating,” Blundell stated. “Consequently, organizations are increasingly vulnerable to risks concerning the security, observability, and overall control of their API and event infrastructure.”
Gravitee’s Origins and Business Model
Founded in 2015 by Rory Blundell, Azize Elamrani, David Brassely, Nicolas Géraud, and Titouan Compiegne, Gravitee began as an open-source initiative. It has since matured into a thriving business. The company now provides commercial services to support the ongoing development of its freely accessible software.
Deployment Options and Key Features
The Gravitee platform offers flexible deployment options, including on-premises installation, self-hosting, and a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model. Core features encompass an API design tool with pre-deployment mock testing capabilities, alongside a comprehensive dashboard for visualizing API deployment components.
Competitive Landscape
Gravitee operates within a competitive market. Key competitors include Blobr, which specializes in software for exposing and monetizing enterprise APIs. StepZen, a company focused on graph technology for connecting and visualizing APIs, also represents significant competition.
Gravitee’s Differentiators
Blundell highlights Gravitee’s unique support for both asynchronous APIs – those that deliver data at a later point in time – and synchronous APIs – which provide immediate data responses. He notes that not all vendors offer compatibility with both types.
Customer Base and Revenue
Currently, Gravitee serves hundreds of customers, including prominent organizations such as Blue Yonder, Michelin, Roche, and Tide. The company achieved an annual recurring revenue of $22 million in fiscal year 2024.
Growth and Team Expansion
Gravitee currently employs approximately 130 individuals and anticipates expanding its workforce to around 200 by the end of the year.
Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly reported the number of Gravitee customers. The company has approximately 130 employees, not 130 customers. We apologize for this error.
