GoPro HERO10 Black: The Latest Action Camera | GoPro

GoPro Unveils the HERO10 Black Action Camera
Today, GoPro announced its newest flagship action camera, the HERO10 Black. A significant upgrade lies within – a completely new processor, the GP2. This processor facilitates substantial enhancements to both image and video quality.
Enhanced Video Capabilities
The HERO10 Black now supports recording at 5.3K resolution with frame rates up to 60fps. Furthermore, 4K video capture has been increased to a maximum of 120 FPS, and 2.7K video is achievable at 240 FPS, enabling impressive slow-motion effects.
Improved Image Quality and Performance
Still image capture is also improved, reaching 23.6 megapixels. Low-light performance has been notably enhanced for both photos and videos. A 3D noise reduction feature minimizes grain, even in nighttime scenes.
Faster Processing and Stabilization
The GP2 chip’s increased processing power translates to a more responsive user experience when navigating the GoPro interface and software. The camera also features HyperSmooth 4.0, the latest iteration of GoPro’s software-based gimbal-like stabilization technology.
Horizon Leveling and Display Improvements
Initial testing indicates HyperSmooth 4.0 delivers exceptional stabilization. The HERO10 Black also incorporates an upgraded horizon-leveling system, maintaining a stable horizon even with camera tilts of up to 45 degrees. The front-facing screen now boasts improved frame rates.
Enhanced Durability and Connectivity
A hydrophobic treatment has been applied to the new lens cover, improving water repellency. The camera remains compatible with existing Media Mod, Display Mod, and Light Mod accessories. It functions as a webcam without additional setup.
Data Transfer and Lens Options
Fast-charging is supported, and the HERO10 Black now offers wired content transfers to smartphones or other devices, alongside cloud uploading and wireless transfer options. GoPro’s SuperView lens, providing an ultra-wide angle, will be available in new 5.3K capture modes via a firmware update on November 16.
New Capture Modes
The November 16 firmware update will also bring support for GoPro’s Max Lens Mods and introduce the following capture modes:
- 5K 4:3 24fps
- 4K 4:3 30/25/24fps
- 5.3K 24fps
- 1080 24fps
Pricing and Availability
The GoPro HERO10 is currently available for purchase at $399.98 with a one-year GoPro subscription, or $499.99 without. The subscription service costs $49.99 annually or $4.99 monthly after a trial period.
Bundle Options
A HERO10 Black bundle, including a Shorty tripod mount, a magnetic swivel clip, an extra battery, and a 32GB microSD card, is priced at $549 without a subscription, or $449 with one. Existing GoPro subscribers can upgrade to the bundle for $399.
