Google Introduces the Pixel 10 Pro Fold

During the Made by Google 2025 event, Google officially presented its forthcoming foldable device, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, as part of the broader Pixel 10 series launch.

Enhanced Design and Durability

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold incorporates a novel gearless hinge, enabling a larger external display and significantly reduced bezels. Google asserts that this hinge exhibits twice the durability of the hinge found in the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The phone is engineered for longevity, with Google projecting a folding lifespan exceeding 10 years.

Display Innovations

The foldable features an expansive 8-inch inner display, currently the largest available on any foldable smartphone. Complementing this is a 6.4-inch outer display, made possible by the minimized bezels.

The internal 8-inch Super Actual Flex display has been re-engineered utilizing resilient ultra-thin glass and incorporating dual layers of anti-impact films for improved drop protection.

Robust Build and Power

For the first time in the Pixel Fold line, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold achieves IP68 water and dust resistance. Its battery is capable of providing up to 30 hours of usage, and it supports fast charging, reaching 50% capacity in just 30 minutes.

Both the inner and outer displays are 11% brighter than the previous generation, achieving a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits.

Charging and Connectivity

This phone is the first foldable to integrate Qi2 charging. Google’s new Pixelsnap magnetic technology allows users to attach the “Pixelsnap Charger with Stand” even when the device is unfolded, or utilize the “Pixelsnap Ring Stand” for hands-free viewing.

Enhanced Multitasking

The Split Screen feature now allows users to resize applications beyond the screen’s boundaries, dynamically adjusting the screen space allocated to each app with a simple tap.

This functionality facilitates seamless content transfer, such as dragging photos from Google Photos or links from Chrome directly into Messages.

Gaming and Entertainment

A new game controller function on the outer display enhances the gaming experience on titles like “Asphalt Legends” and “Disney Speedstorm.” Google has also optimized streaming performance on Netflix and Disney+ for on-the-go viewing.

Camera System

The Instant View feature enables side-by-side review of captured photos on the unfolded inner screen immediately after taking them. Dual Screen Preview allows all subjects to see themselves while posing, simplifying the process of capturing ideal photos and videos.

The camera system comprises a 48 MP wide lens, a 5x telephoto lens with Super Res Zoom up to 20x, and an ultrawide lens with Macro Focus. This combination ensures versatility for various shooting scenarios.

Tensor G5 Performance

The Tensor G5 chip represents a substantial upgrade over previous generations, specifically engineered for advanced machine learning and AI applications. It delivers double-digit performance gains, including a TPU that is up to 60% more powerful and a CPU that is, on average, 34% faster.

This is the first chip to support Google’s latest Gemini Nano model, unlocking over 20 generative AI experiences, including Gemini Live, Magic Cue, and Daily Hub, alongside enhanced photography features like Add Me, Best Take, and Camera Coach.
