GMC Hummer EV Deliveries Imminent
The initial shipments of the electric Hummer are scheduled to reach customers during the current holiday season. As reported by Autoblog, Duncan Aldred, the head of GMC, has confirmed that deliveries of the Hummer Edition 1 – the fully electric truck model priced above $112,000 – will commence in December.
During the announcement, it was also disclosed that the Edition 1 boasts an EPA-estimated range of 329 miles. This figure is slightly less than the originally anticipated 350-mile range projected by the manufacturer.
Performance and Capabilities
GMC’s substantial, four-ton electric truck generates an impressive 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 ft/lb of torque through its three electric motors. This powertrain configuration allows for rapid acceleration, achieving zero to 60 mph in approximately 3 seconds.
The vehicle’s capabilities extend beyond speed; it is also engineered for demanding tasks. It possesses a towing capacity of up to 7,500 pounds and a payload capacity reaching 1,300 pounds.
Ultium Battery Platform
The Hummer EV is constructed utilizing the Ultium battery pack. This is the foundational platform GM has engineered to facilitate the electrification of numerous models across its diverse brand portfolio in the years ahead.
This platform represents a significant investment by General Motors in its electric vehicle future.
