GM Silverado EV Production to Begin in Early 2023

Silverado EV: Production Timeline Revealed
General Motors is scheduled to unveil the Silverado EV at CES 2022. However, prospective buyers will experience a wait before deliveries commence.
Automotive News reports that GM has confirmed the mainstream electric pickup will begin production in early 2023. Sales are anticipated to follow later in the same year.
This launch follows the arrival of the Hummer EV pickup, which is set to ship this December. It also comes after the electric Hummer SUV, now expected in early 2023.
Key Features and Technology
While specific details remain limited, GM has previewed several important aspects of the Silverado EV. The vehicle will utilize the same Ultium battery technology and drivetrain found in the Hummer EV and Cadillac Lyriq.
The Silverado EV is projected to achieve a range exceeding 400 miles on a single charge. Furthermore, it will incorporate four-wheel steering for enhanced maneuverability.
Design and Variants
A prominent feature of the standard Silverado EV will be a glass roof. This design element is intended to create a more spacious and open interior feel.
In addition to consumer versions, GM will also offer fleet variants. These are specifically tailored for commercial and workplace applications.
The Silverado EV represents a significant step in GM’s electrification strategy. It aims to provide a compelling electric pickup option for a broader range of customers.
