Fuzey Secures $4.5 Million in Seed Funding

Fuzey, a London-based firm offering a comprehensive “digital one-stop shop” solution for small businesses and independent contractors, has successfully completed a $4.5 million seed funding round.

Investment Details

The funding round was spearheaded by byFounders, with significant contributions from Flash Ventures, Global Founders Capital, and Ascension. A cohort of angel investors also participated, including Stephane Kurgan, a venture partner at Index Ventures, and Sheel Tyle, founder and CEO of Amplo VC.

To date, the company has raised a total of $5.2 million in funding since its inception in 2020. The company was founded by Henrik Lysgaard Jensen and Alex Boyce.

As a result of this investment, Sara Rywe from byFounders and Lorenzo Franzi of Flash Ventures will be joining Fuzey’s board of directors.

Addressing a Market Need

Lysgaard Jensen and Boyce initially connected approximately two years ago, united by a shared passion for assisting small businesses in their digital transformation.

Fuzey specifically targets local business owners, such as plumbers, electricians, and mechanics. Lysgaard Jensen emphasizes that these businesses form “the backbone of every community,” yet often lack access to, or are underserved by, existing business management tools.

Competitive Landscape

Several other startups are recognizing the needs of this segment. For example, Puls Technologies secured $15 million in November for its mobile application that connects tradespeople with customers needing home repair services.

Larger players, like Jobber, have also entered the market, announcing $60 million in funding earlier this year.

A Personal Connection

The mission behind Fuzey is deeply personal for Boyce, whose mother operated her small business largely through a handwritten notebook, constantly worried about losing critical information.

“These are topics we are working through,” Boyce explained to TechCrunch. “We considered how we could facilitate change during the pandemic, which served as a catalyst as we observed evolving consumer expectations and a desire for more technology-driven engagement with local businesses.”

Core Functionality

The company’s platform digitizes traditionally manual processes, such as invoice creation.

It consolidates communications, payment processing, marketing efforts, and scheduling into a single, unified dashboard, empowering businesses to manage operations and enhance their online presence.

Users can interact with customers through various channels, including messaging and social media. The platform also facilitates invoice generation for immediate payment and provides insights into lead generation.

Fuzey provides document templates and simplifies the review process with one-click customer review options.

Prioritizing Customer Engagement

“Response time is important, and we even have response templates with predefined questions or comments so you can get back to customers quickly,” Lysgaard Jensen stated. “We are big believers in the 20, 30, 40-time impact of this.”

Future Plans

Since launching its product in June, the company intends to allocate the new funding towards product development and expansion into new geographical markets.

Fuzey is currently operating in select regions within Europe, the U.S., and Canada.

The company currently employs 10 individuals and is experiencing substantial month-over-month growth in both customer acquisition and revenue.
