Fortnite on PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X/S

The selection of games available at launch is often a key consideration for players investing in a new generation of consoles. Fortunately, fans can be assured that the widely acclaimed battle royale game Fortnite will be accessible on both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S when these consoles become available next week, launching just days apart.

Epic Games, the game’s developer, has provided specifics regarding the game’s presentation on the new platforms. According to a recent announcement, the Fortnite versions for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 are not merely updated versions of the previous generation’s game, but entirely new, native builds designed to utilize the enhanced capabilities of the new consoles. Players who already enjoy Fortnite will be able to continue their progress seamlessly on the new systems, while also benefiting from the upgraded hardware.

The enhancements are remarkably consistent across both Sony and Microsoft platforms. Both the Xbox Series X and PS5 versions will feature 4K resolution at a smooth 60 frames per second, quicker matchmaking times, split-screen functionality also at 60 FPS, and more realistic physics and graphics. This includes dynamic elements like trees reacting to explosions and more detailed weather visuals. The Xbox Series S offers many of these improvements, though it renders video at 1080p instead of 4K.

The new Xbox consoles and PlayStation 5 are scheduled for release on November 10th and 12th, respectively.
