Can My PC Run Windows Vista? - System Requirements Check

Assessing Windows Vista Compatibility
As the launch of Windows Vista approached, a question arose regarding my laptop’s ability to run the new operating system. Fortunately, Microsoft developed a tool designed to analyze your system’s specifications and determine if any upgrades are necessary.
The Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor can be downloaded from here.
Running the Upgrade Advisor
Begin by downloading and initiating the installation process.
Upon launching the application, select the “Start Scan” button to begin the compatibility check.

The scanning process will take several minutes to complete. During this time, you may encounter promotional material from Microsoft.

Compatibility Results
The scan indicated that my computer meets the minimum requirements to run Windows Vista.

However, the advisor also suggested several recommended upgrades to enhance the overall experience.

Specifically, my video card does not fully support the Aero user interface. This means while Vista is runnable, the advanced graphical features won’t be accessible.

Despite this limitation, plans were already in place to acquire a new desktop PC in the coming months. It was anticipated that a future system might be pre-installed with Windows Vista.
