Fetcher Raises $6.5M to Automate Recruiting | AI News

Fetcher Secures $6.5 Million in Series A Funding to Revolutionize Recruitment
Fetcher, a company focused on streamlining the recruitment process and broadening candidate diversity, has announced the successful completion of a $6.5 million Series A funding round.
Company Origins and Leadership
Initially operating under the name Scout, this New York-based startup was established by Andres Blank, serving as CEO, alongside Chris Calmeyn as CPO, and engineering directors Javier Castiarena and Santi Aimetta.
Automating Recruitment Outreach
Fetcher’s core function is to automate key aspects of the recruiter’s role, specifically candidate identification and initial contact. Andres Blank explained that the system is designed to achieve a strong response rate by ensuring messages are directed to appropriately qualified individuals.
He emphasized that effective recruitment communication doesn't require elaborate crafting. Recruiters benefit from a system that minimizes time spent on individual message composition, while candidates appreciate relevant outreach.
A "Human-in-the-Loop" System
Fetcher employs a “human-in-the-loop” methodology. While the initial candidate outreach is automated, subsequent conversations with interested candidates are managed directly by recruiters.
According to Blank, automating both sourcing and initial contact frees up recruiters from time-consuming computer-based searches. This allows them to focus on more strategic and impactful aspects of their work, while simultaneously building a diverse and substantial candidate pipeline.
Expanding Diversity Through Automation
Automated sourcing is also presented as a means to access a wider range of candidates than traditional recruitment methods allow. A case study was provided, detailing how Fetcher assisted Frame.io in hiring 11 employees within a year, with nine of those hires being women and/or members of underrepresented groups.
Anna Chalon, Frame.io’s senior director of talent and diversity, equity and inclusion, stated that Fetcher has provided the time and capacity to organically diversify their candidate pipeline. This has resulted in the recruitment of exceptional talent, particularly from underrepresented communities.
Growth and Future Plans
Fetcher has experienced consistent monthly revenue growth since July of the previous year. This is attributed to the increasing need for leaner recruiting teams to maximize efficiency, coupled with a growing emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
To date, Fetcher has raised a total of $12 million in funding. The Series A round was spearheaded by G20 Ventures, with contributions from KFund, Slow Ventures, and Accomplice. Blank announced plans to double the current employee count of 80 by year-end and to enhance the platform with additional analytics, including diversity-focused metrics, and CRM functionalities.
- Key Feature: Automated candidate sourcing and initial outreach.
- Approach: "Human-in-the-loop" – automation combined with recruiter interaction.
- Impact: Increased recruiter efficiency and a more diverse candidate pool.
