Facebook Tests 'Professional' Mode for Creator Profiles

Meta Introduces “Professional” Mode for User Profiles
Meta, previously known as Facebook, has announced the launch of a new “Professional” mode for user profiles. This feature is specifically designed for content creators who aim to generate income from their audience on the platform.
Initially, this mode is being rolled out to a limited number of creators within the United States. It will unlock additional monetization avenues and provide access to more detailed analytics, previously exclusive to Facebook Pages.
Reels Play Bonus Program
One key benefit is participation in the new Reels Play bonus program. Eligible creators have the potential to earn up to $35,000 monthly, based on the viewership of their short-form video content.
Currently, access to this program is by invitation only. Meta will determine which creators meet the criteria for earning these bonuses.
Enhanced Insights for Creators
Beyond the Reels Play bonus, creators utilizing Professional mode will gain access to professional-grade insights. These insights mirror those available to administrators of Facebook Pages.
This includes comprehensive data on post performance, audience demographics, and profile growth. Creators can now monitor total shares, reactions, and comments, alongside tracking follower trends over time.
Such data empowers creators to refine their content strategy and better understand audience engagement.
Public Figure Status
Meta cautions that opting into Professional mode will increase a creator’s visibility as a public figure. This means anyone on the platform will be able to follow them and view their publicly posted content.
However, creators retain control over post privacy, with the option to designate content as either public or visible only to friends.
Updates for Facebook Page Users
Creators currently utilizing Facebook Pages will be transitioned to a new Pages experience. This includes a Professional Dashboard.
The Dashboard will serve as a central hub for Page admins to assess performance and access professional tools and analytics.
A two-step composer is also being tested for Pages, enabling creators to schedule posts and simultaneously share them to groups.
Investment in the Creator Economy
These changes reflect Meta’s significant investment in its creator community. The company recognizes the potential for new revenue streams through creator subscriptions and virtual gifts, known as “Stars.”
Recently, Meta made Stars available outside of app stores via a dedicated website, eliminating commission fees paid to Apple and Google.
The company previously announced plans to distribute $1 billion in payments to creators, including Reels bonuses, as competition for talent intensifies with platforms like TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, and Snapchat.
Future Rollout
The new Professional mode is currently in a testing phase with a select group of creators in the U.S. Meta plans to expand its availability in the future, including to the EMEA region.
