Enable Hidden BootScreen in Windows Vista - Guide

Unlocking the Hidden Boot Screen in Windows Vista

The standard boot screen in Windows Vista was considered by some to be underwhelming. However, Microsoft included a more aesthetically pleasing alternative that can be activated with minimal effort.

The reason for not utilizing a superior boot screen by default remains unclear. For those seeking a truly personalized experience, exploring the creation of a custom boot logo is also an option.

Below, you can see a comparison of the default boot screen and the concealed "Aurora" screen.

Activating the Aurora Boot Screen

The process for enabling the hidden boot screen is straightforward. Begin by typing "msconfig" into the search field within the Start menu and pressing Enter.

Within the System Configuration utility, navigate to the Boot tab. Subsequently, select the checkbox labeled "No GUI boot".

Confirm your changes by clicking "OK" and then restarting your computer. The new boot screen should now be visible during the startup sequence.

It's worth noting that a Windows Defender error may appear upon the subsequent startup. This can be resolved by re-enabling the System Configuration utility via the tray icon, effectively eliminating the error message.
