Elon Musk Cancels Tesla Model S Plaid+

Tesla Cancels Model S Plaid+ Production
Elon Musk, the Chief Executive Officer of Tesla, has officially announced the discontinuation of plans for the Model S Plaid+, a higher-performance iteration of the forthcoming Plaid model.
Rationale Behind the Cancellation
Musk’s justification centers on the exceptional capabilities of the standard Plaid version. He believes that an additional variant is unnecessary given the Plaid’s already impressive performance.
On Sunday, Musk communicated via Twitter: “Model S reaches Plaid speed this week.” He further stated, “Plaid+ is canceled. It’s simply not needed, as Plaid speed is already outstanding.”
Plaid Performance Specifications
The Tesla Model S Plaid boasts a remarkable 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of just 1.99 seconds.
Its top speed reaches 200 miles per hour, and it offers an estimated driving range of 390 miles, as detailed on the company’s official website.
The powertrain generates 1,020 horsepower, and the vehicle’s base price is $112,990.
A slight delay in the delivery event for the electric sedan was announced by Musk in late May. The event was rescheduled to June 10th to accommodate a final refinement.
Musk has described the driving experience of the Plaid, equipped with its three motors, as akin to piloting a spacecraft.
Plaid+ Plans and Pre-Order Halt
The now-canceled Plaid+ was initially slated for release in mid-2022.
Musk had previously indicated that this version would deliver even greater performance and an extended range.
The anticipated starting price for the Plaid+ was $150,000.
Tesla ceased accepting pre-orders for the vehicle on its website in May, fueling speculation about the Plaid+'s potential cancellation.
Musk’s recent tweet has now validated those predictions.
