Adjusting Aero Peek Delay in Windows 7
Do you want a straightforward method to alter the "delay time" associated with Aero Peek in Windows 7? Alternatively, perhaps you wish to completely deactivate this functionality? The Desktop Peek Tweak offers a simple solution for either modification.
Understanding Aero Peek
The "Aero Peek" feature within Windows 7 is a useful tool for quickly viewing your desktop when numerous applications are open. While the standard time delay for "Aero Peek" is generally acceptable, users may prefer a faster or slower response time based on their individual needs.
Desktop Peak Tweak in Action When utilizing Desktop Peek Tweak, two key aspects should be considered.
- When you initially launch the application, the default setting will be displayed on the "Time Delay Scale".
- From this point, you can adjust the "Delay Time" to be shorter, longer, or entirely disable "Aero Peek".
For our initial evaluation, we chose to disable "Aero Peek". After implementing a change and selecting "Save Desktop Peek Delay", a prompt will appear requesting a logoff and subsequent login to finalize the adjustments.
As demonstrated in the lower right corner, we positioned our mouse cursor over the "Show Desktop Button", but the open windows remained unaffected. It's important to note that you can still access the desktop by manually clicking the "Show Desktop Button".
Next, we maximized the "Delay Time" and completed the logoff/login procedure. A significant and noticeable (extended) difference in the time required to view the desktop was immediately apparent.
Finally, we configured the "Delay Time" to "Instant" and, following a login, discovered this to be our preferred setting. The desktop became visible with exceptional speed.
Conclusion
Desktop Peek Tweak delivers a user-friendly and uncomplicated way to modify the Aero Peek delay time or disable the feature entirely, if desired.
If you would rather utilize Windows 7 settings to disable Aero Peek, or wish to manually adjust the Aero Peek delay time using a registry modification, further details are available in a related article.
