digitail Raises $2.5M Seed Round - Vet & Customer App

Digitail Secures $2.5 Million Seed Funding

Digitail, a cloud-based service designed for veterinary clinics and their clients, has successfully completed a $2.5 million seed funding round. The investment was spearheaded by byFounders and Gradient Ventures, which is Google’s dedicated AI fund.

Additional participation in this round came from Partech, alongside a group of angel investors, notably including Dr. Ivan Zakharenkov of SmartFlow. Digitail had previously received backing in a pre-seed round in 2019 from Fast Track Malmo.

Current Usage and Platform Overview

Currently, Digitail’s platform is utilized by over 2,000 veterinarians across 16 different countries. The company positions itself as offering an “all-in-one” practice management system.

This system is intended to streamline workflows for animal hospitals and veterinary practices, facilitate automation, and enhance engagement with pet owners, even remotely.

Features for Pet Owners

A key component of Digitail is its Health Card for pets. This is accessible through a dedicated customer app.

The app is directly integrated with the Practice Information Management System (PIMS) and functions as a digital identification for each pet. It securely stores the pet’s complete medical history.

Pet owners can utilize the app to communicate with their veterinarian via in-app chat, schedule appointments, and maintain other crucial information regarding their animal companions.

Leadership Team

The company is led by co-founders Sebastian Gabor, serving as CEO, and Ruxandra Pui, the Chief Product Officer (CPO).

Supporting them is Alexandru Gheorghita, DVM, who acts as the in-house veterinary specialist.

Addressing Industry Challenges

According to Sebastian Gabor, the pet care industry is lagging behind in technological adoption. He stated that a lack of a comprehensive vision and integrated approach results in data silos and hinders collaboration.

This situation forces veterinarians to rely on outdated tools, ultimately stifling innovation and progress within the field.

Competitive Landscape

Digitail operates within a competitive market, facing rivals such as Rhapsody.vet (which has raised $8 million in Series A funding), Ezyvet, and Hippo Manager.

However, Digitail differentiates itself by emphasizing its comprehensive, all-in-one approach to practice management.

Market Trends and Future Outlook

A significant portion of pet owners in the United States – approximately 39% – are millennials. This demographic shift is driving demand for convenient, app-based services.

Veterinarians are increasingly recognizing the need to cater to this new generation of clients who expect seamless booking and communication options. The pet care industry is projected to reach a substantial $200 billion valuation by the year 2025.
