Balancing Security Updates and System Stability

Organizations utilizing software frequently encounter a challenge: the need to rapidly implement security patches to mitigate cyberattacks, while simultaneously ensuring these updates don't disrupt existing system functionality.

CyDeploy, a new startup, aims to address this complex issue.

How CyDeploy Works: Digital Twin Technology

Tina Williams-Koroma, the founder of CyDeploy, explained to TechCrunch that the core concept revolves around leveraging machine learning. The system observes and meticulously records the critical processes within a company’s infrastructure.

A precise replica of these systems is then created, forming what Williams-Koroma terms a “digital twin.” This allows companies to thoroughly test updates within this simulated environment before deploying them to live systems.

“We capture user interactions with applications and systems during typical daily operations,” Williams-Koroma stated. CyDeploy records and categorizes on-screen activity, and machine learning algorithms are employed to interpret and automatically label these events.

Human Oversight and Validation

To ensure accuracy and prevent errors, a human element remains integral to the process. A customer’s system administrator, possessing specialized knowledge, verifies the machine learning’s labeling to confirm its correctness.

Williams-Koroma discussed CyDeploy’s participation as a Top 20 finalist in the Startup Battlefield at the TechCrunch Disrupt 2025 conference.

Accelerated Test Script Creation

A key benefit of CyDeploy is its ability to expedite the creation of comprehensive test scripts, according to Williams-Koroma.

“The system is deployed within the digital twin environment, and system administrators execute functional test scripts that mirror real-world usage scenarios,” she explained. “This allows for the identification of potential issues before they impact live operations.”

Data Security and Deployment Options

Customers have the flexibility to choose between utilizing CyDeploy’s own large language model, which operates within the company’s secure infrastructure, or integrating with OpenAI’s model. The latter option involves transmitting data outside the company’s systems and cloud environment.

Williams-Koroma indicated that the primary focus for CyDeploy implementation is on servers and essential machines, rather than individual user workstations.

“These are Tier 1 applications where swift updates are crucial due to security concerns, but careful consideration is needed to avoid operational disruptions,” she clarified.
